Brilliant Christian youth to lead service
By MARIAN HOUSERMembers of the Brilliant Christian Youth Ministries will lead the congregation of Brilliant Christian Church, 323 High St., in its 10:30 a.m. worship service Sunday.
The nearly 40-member community youth organization sponsored by the church will have several of its members leading the service, including members of its 2008 First Priority Mission Trip to Beaufort, S.C. They will share their experiences on the trip.
Team members include:
Youth, Rachel Hoagland, K'Lah Lyons, Casey McGuire, Chance Miller, Marlena Roush, Chuckie Stock, Holly Tester, Bethany Tinstman and Andy Westfall. Adult members were Kathleen Hoagland and the Rev. Marc Tinstman.
The service will include contemporary Christian music, a special newscast by Austin Ferguson, Bethany Tinstman, Kyle Sutphin, Andrew Ferguson and Nathan Tinstman, a skit on Luke 10:25-37 by Austin Ferguson, Casey McGuire, Andrew Westfall, Joey Lanzetti, Kyle Sutphin and Bethany Tintsman and a film clip from "Entertaining Angels."
There also will be a video presentation on the mission trip and presentations to businesses and organizations that helped fund the trip.

Hill Top to hold fundraising dinner
There will be a roast beef dinner at Hill Top Fellowship Hall, county Road 46 and state Route 213, Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The menu includes roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, salad, homemade pies and hot and cold beverages.
Carryouts are available. Donations will be accepted with proceeds to go to a church project.
Jazz artists to play at First Westminster
Sunny Sunseri, area physician and jazz enthusiast, will be featured with jazz artists from Pittsburgh in a free concert Sunday at 5 p.m. at First Westminster Presbyterian Church, 235 N. Fourth St.
With him will be Eric DeFade on sax/flute; Joe DeFazio, piano; and James Johnson III on drums. Sunny will play bass.
Brentwood to hold 'Kickoff Sunday'
Brentwood United Methodist Church, 148 Stephens St., Wintersville, will hold a "Kickoff Sunday" beginning at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. It's a joint event with Hopedale United Methodist Church.
All those attending are asked to wear their favorite football team colors or jerseys and T-shirts.
A "Tailgate Party for Jesus" will follow the service with an outdoor picnic.
The event is open to the community.
Blackwoods to sing at Bell Chapel
Blackwood Brothers Quartet will present a concert at Bell Chapel United Methodist Church, state Route 213, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m.
Hooverson Heights celebration today
Hooverson Heights Church of Christ will celebrate its third-annual "Harvest on the Hill," free community celebration today from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. There will be music, games, dunking tank, moon walk and food. The church will hold its 10th revival Oct. 5 through Oct. 10 with area Christian Church and Church of Christ pastors as speakers.
Modranski begins new sermon series
The Rev. Steve Modranski of Sycamore Tree Church, 301 N. Fourth St., will introduce his next sermon series, "No Perfect People Allowed," Sunday
Explaining his choice of topics, he said, "For some reason a lot of people think you have to be perfect to go to church, but truth is, church is the best place for people who aren't perfect."

Cub Scouts plan open house, registration
Cub Scout Troop 415 will hold its annual open house and new Scout registration Monday at 6:30 p.m. at Starkdale United Presbyterian Church, 4600 Sunset Blvd. Membership is open to boys in first through fifth grades.
