EDDY, Elisabeth, 81, of Wintersville, Ohio, died Saturday, August 30, 2008, at her residence after a short and courageous battle of cancer.
She was born April 29, 1927, in Munich, Germany, the daughter of the late Franz and Elisabeth Schubert Pitzer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond E. "Ray" Eddy whom she married December 4, 1948, in Munich, Germany.
Elisabeth was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and its CWC and served on the Pierogi committee; volunteered over 25 years at Trinity Medical Center; active member of the Opera Guild; and enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking her infamous cheese cakes for people she loved.
She is survived by her daughters, Heidi (Richard) Pflug of Steubenville, Ohio, and Sharon (Donald) Long of Wintersville, Ohio; two granddaughters, Nicole and Kelsey Long of Wintersville; two stepgrandchildren, Kathryn and Richard Pflug of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters, Anna Bass of Wintersville and Katharina Daffner of Munich, Germany; and two brothers, Franz and Alois Pitzer, both of Munich, Germany.
Friends may call at the Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, Wintersville, with Msgr. Kurt Kemo as celebrant.
Entombment in Fort Steuben Burial Estates.
