Knights to hold annual ceremonies
By MARIAN HOUSER, community editorKnights of Columbus members will have their annual rosary Vigil Mass for the Feast of the Assumption of Mary Thursday at Sacred Heart Villa in Sunshine Park, 36 Villa Drive, Steubenville. It will begin at dusk and is for all area Knights of Columbus and the public.
Mingo Knights of Columbus Council 4361 will hold its annual Solemnity of the Assumption Of Our Blessed Mother Friday at 7 p.m.
The Rev. James M. Dunfee, council chaplain, will lead the rosary in front of the Grotto of the Blessed Mother at the council hall on Legion Drive, Mingo Junction.
ICHS fundraiser to aid cheerleaders
A Poker Night fundraiser to help send Indian Creek High School cheerleaders to national cheerleading competition will be held Friday at the Knights of Columbus Hall, west of Wintersville.
Doors will open at 5 p.m. and games begin at 6:15 p.m.
There will be a Texas Hold 'Em Tournament, black jack tables, cash tables and 50/50 drawings.
There is a $110 entrance fee that includes food and beverage and 25,000 in chips.

Assault center to give library program
Are your kids safe? Do you know how to teach your children the difference between a safe and an unsafe touch? The Sexual Assault Help Center can help.
Center representatives will be at the Schiappa branch of the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County Monday at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. The program is for parents and children age 4-8.
Beautiful Bugs For Little Mugs will be held at the Tiltonsville and Brilliant branches of the public library next week.
The program is for children age 2-5 and a parent. Stories, games and songs will be shared. It will be held at the Tiltonsville branch Aug. 21 at 10 a.m. and at the Brilliant branch at 6 p.m.
Movie Night will be held Aug. 22 at 3:30 and at 6 p.m. at the Schiappa branch. Call the library at (740) 264-6166 for details.
Bell to address Parkinson's group
Andrea Bell, director of programs and outreach at Jefferson Community College, will be the guest speaker when the Parkinson's Support group of Jefferson County meets Friday at noon at the Rose.

Follansbee Flea Market Sept. 6
The second-annual Follansbee Flea Market will be held Sept. 6 at the Follansbee Baseball Fields on state Route 2. The market begins at 8 a.m. Spots are $15.

Toronto gazebo concert Thursday
Power Surge will be featured when Music at the Gazebo is held Thursday at 7 p.m. at the gazebo in Toronto.
Those attending are asked to bring a canned goods item for the Toronto Food Pantry. The concert will be moved to the First United Methodist Church in Toronto if it rains.
Steubenville Lions list programs
The Steubenville Lions Club speaker for today's noon luncheon at Froehlich's Classic Corner is Dr. Joseph Lewis. Donna Ashcroft of the American Heat Association will be the Aug. 20 speaker.
The club will hold its annual picnic at 6 p.m. Aug. 27 at the FOP Lodge. Dave Nicholson will speak about the NOVASAR Search and Rescue team and give a demonstration with a rescue dog. Nicholson is a volunteer with the unit.

CCHS 1953 class plans reunion
Catholic Central High School Class of 1953 will mark its 55th-year anniversary with a September reunion.
It will begin with a mixer at Froehlich's Classic Corner Sept. 5 and a dinner Sept. 6. It will conclude with a Memorial Mass to honor deceased classmates at St. Peter's Church Sept. 7 followed by a continental breakfast.
Classmates from Oregon, California, Florida, New Jersey and Kansas are among those expected to attend.
