Bradley community plans Aug. 9 reunion
By MARIAN HOUSER, community editorThere was a Smithfield High School reunion and Piney Fork reunion this summer. Now the people who were residents of the once thriving coal mining town of Bradley or who still live in the community that is having a come-back with young people moving in, is calling for a reunion Aug. 9 at the Smithfield Historic Society Building at 4 p.m.
The planning committee wants to gather information about Bradley through stories, photos and word of mouth, and all of it will be compiled by Virginia Nameth, who resides there.
Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish and any information they might have.
Those planning the event are former residents of the community that once had coal mines, a company store, the New Co-operative Store, post office, a doctor and a school. The committee is comprised of Linda Kovach, Chris McCain, Ed Waldman and Paul Greene.
