State candidates speak to Post 735

Four Buckeye Local juniors, who were named by the Piney Fork American Legion and Auxiliary Post 735 to attend Buckeye Girl and Boy State, spoke on their experiences at a social meeting in the legion hall.

Ryan Hajny, son of John and Connie Hajny of Piney Fork, attended the week-long session at Bowling Green State University. He was named police chief in the city of Martin, county of Munson.

Andrea Anderson, daughter of Andy and Sue Anderson of Mount Pleasant, held the office of council president in the city of Flowers, county of Balthazar.

Jessica Smarrella, daughter of Jim and Suzanne Smarrella of Dillonvale, was city treasurer in the city of Rice, county of Bond.

Katie Moore, daughter of Mark Moore and Carol Ramsey of Rayland and Tonya and Mike Shaffer of Yorkville, was a county commissioner and county chairman in the city of Merritt and Bates County.

The girls attended Ashland University. The auxiliary served refreshments and the 80th birthday of Ed Waldman was observed.
