Joseph M. Hudachek

HUDACHEK, Joseph Michael, 77, of Weirton, W.Va., after a lengthy illness, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2008, with his family at his side at the LifeCare Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Born October 23, 1930, in Allison, Pa., he was the son of the late John B. and Anna Karole Hudacek.

Joseph “Papa Joe” retired after 45 years as a side trimmer in the Tin Mill of Weirton Steel/National Steel. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Weirton Knights of Columbus and Weirton Moose Lodge 688.

In addition to his parents, Joseph was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Edna Garish Hudachek, whom he married October 7, 1950; his brothers, John Hudacek, who was killed during World War II, Frank A. Hudacheck (and his wife Joan M.); and sister, Anka (and her husband Ned) Burgess.

Joseph’s survivors include his loving family, Dr. Carol Hudachek of Weirton, Joan DiCicco and her husband, Michael, of Acton, Mass., Susan Hudachek of Pittsburgh, Pa., Jean Hudachek and her fiance, William Bletzer, of Grafton, Mass., Joseph F. Hudachek of Weirton, John Hudachek and his wife, Starla, of White Hall, Md., and Robert Hudachek of Scottsdale, Ariz.; sister, Helen Christenbury and her husband, Donald, of Charlotte, N.C.; sister-in-law, Rita Hirkala of Weirton; grand children, Daniel DiCicco and Johnathan and Gracen Hudachek; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Saturday, from 6-8 p.m., and Sunday 1-3 and 6-8 p.m., at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where the Knights of Columbus Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Sunday.

Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m., Monday, at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church. The Reverend Father Dean Borgmeyer will preside.

Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton.
