Garibaldi sisters plan dinner party

Sisters of Garibaldi Society completed plans for its annual dinner party when it met in Garibaldi Hall with Lucy Takach presiding.

The event will be held May 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the hall.

Members will be contacted by the telephone committee for reservations. Reservations deadline is Sunday.

The cost is $5 per person and members who make reservations are responsible for the cost even if they don’t attend. The party is open to guests.

Members who are not contacted should call Teresa Lamantia.

The committee will decorate the hall May 16 at 6 p.m. Lamantia and Joyce Parrish are party co-chairmen. They are assisted by Candia Caruso, Filamena DiCarlantonio, Rita Robinson, Ada Pulice, Kathy DiCarlantonio, Mary Ann Boyd and Yolanda Minnella.

Hostesses were Sylvia Wendt, Emelia Recchio, Dora Ferrelli and Mary Arlia. Lana Relotto won the door prize. Prize winners were Cindy Thomaselli, Robinson, Recchio and Pauline Thomaselli.



Sternwheelers have dinner, tour

The April meeting of the OH/WV Sternwheelers Questers Chapter 1418 began with dinner at the Gas Lite in Wintersville.

Sharon Mieczkowski conducted a brief business session before dinner.

Members then toured an area Quester’s home that contained a collection of antiques purchased from Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

The antiques were made during the period of 1850 to 1900 and included painted country furniture and a collection of blue decorated stoneware from Western Pennsylvania.

The May 27 meeting will be held at 226 Cunningham Lane with Rose Marie Cieslak as hostess and Shirley Guida as co-hostess. Connie Freshour will present a program on music boxes.



W.A.T.C.H. holds May luncheon

The W.A.T.C.H. women’s group of House of Prayer Church, near Brilliant, held its May luncheon at the church with Christy Tompkins giving the opening prayer.

Door prize winners were Brenda Burge and Rosa Stone. Janet Janos offered prayer, and Rosa Stone gave the blessing.

Plans were completed for a May 17 bake sale to raise funds to take children of the church to Kennywood Park in June.

The open-air sale will be held at Wal-Mart in St. Clairsville and at the Super-C Gas Station in Smithfield. Linda Jackson bought prizes for the mother-daughter banquet to be held Saturday. Funds for the prizes were donated by the church and the women’s group.

The next luncheon will be at 1 p.m. June 12 at the church.



Brooke 4-H to hold yard sale

Brooke County 4-H will hold a yard sale Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the former convenient store at 22nd Street and state Route 2. All proceeds will benefit the Brooke County 4-H Camp. The rain date is May 17 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.



Children’s craft class offered

Children ages 8 and up can create a western sand art picture at the Follansbee branch of the Brooke County Public Library Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
