Mayor Michael Morgan

MORGAN, Mayor Michael, 54, of Amsterdam, Ohio, died Monday, May 1, 2008, at his home of pancreatic cancer.
Born May 12, 1953, in Steubenville, Ohio, he was a son of Ruth Starr Morgan and the late William Morgan.
Michael was a 1971 graduate of Springfield Local High School. He was a retiree of the Construction Workers Local 809, where he served as sergeant of arms, recording secretary and president. He served on the Amsterdam Village Council and was in his 18th year serving as the mayor of Amsterdam. His memberships included the Unionport Masonic Lodge, Jefferson County Sportsmans Club, and he was a committee man for the Jefferson County Democratic Party.
Along with his mother, Ruth, and his wife, the former Carol Alloway, whom he married May 21, 1988, he is survived by one stepson, Michael (Hollie) Boyuk of Amsterdam; two stepgrandsons, Dylan and Brandon Boyuk of Amsterdam; and four brothers, Kevin (Anne) Morgan of Virginia Beach, Va., Daniel (Janet) Morgan of Colebrook, Conn., Terrance (Rose) Morgan of Canaan, Conn., and Patrick Morgan of Amsterdam.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home of Amsterdam, where funeral services will be Monday, May 3, 2008, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Charles McNatt officiating.
Burial will follow in the Bergholz Cemetery.
