Rsimpson I couldn't agree with you more. My wife and I too had to have some assistance when we were first married. I lost a good job because the min wage got raised, and the underemployment checks and other help helped us get through it.

The problem is that the children grow up thinking the gov. will provide everything. They know no other way. Getting jobs in the summer never occurres to them or is discouraged. Most are from single parent homes, and are not taught any kind of responsibility. They get everything for free. They just become another generation of welfare bums.

anything we could do at the time. The difference is we only used the programs for about a year while were getting back on our feet. I do want to point out though that not everyone has been as fortunate as we have and have been able to bounce back so quickly. Those people who need help are not my issue. I thank God these programs were available when we needed them. I don't know what we would have done without it. My issue are those people who make welfare a career choice and who raise their children to think welfare is a career choice. I don't blame the children, I blame the parents. Welfare just shouldn't allow people to receive assistance for their entire lifetime, it's that simple.

have and should have been used to feed the children. My husband and I work hard for a living and I still don't have the money to get my hair done on a regular basis, not that I would even if I could but it's the principle of the matter. I am also so sick and tired of seeing Republicans bashed. The majority of the time it is done by someone who obviously has no idea what they're talking about. Republicans would never leave our less fortunate to fend for themselves but they also realize the need for reform to prevent such high instances of fraud as well as the generation of slackers these entitlement programs have created. That may not have been the intention when these programs were started but that is what happened so we now have to deal with it. There was a time when my husband and I received food stamps when we were first together years ago when our first child was still a baby. It was not a career choice for us though, my husband lost his job at the mill there wasn't much of anythi

When all the sidewalks were covered with snow and ice welfare recipients could have been out there shoveling and salting our sidewalks as well as mowing the lawns in summer and a number of other jobs. This would also free up money for the city being they wouldn't have to pay someone to do these jobs. Not all welfare recipients are lazy, there are plenty who want to work but just can't find gainful employment. In any event I don't think it's right to label a child a welfare bum. It is a child and has no control over what their parents choose to do nor the life they were born into. During the application process if an applicant comes in with fake hair weaves and/or extensions, manicured fake fingernails, and an expensive smart phone welfare workers should deman to know how they are able to afford these things but at the same time are coming to them for assistance with feeding their children. It should be pointed out to them the money spent on hair, nails, expensive phones, etc. could

@BKnees I agree with every comment you made. I too am sick and tired of seeing welfare recipients be able to easily afford things I have to struggle to buy however I am also aware that not everyone is like that. We have to take a drug screen to earn our money and for that joy we have to pay taxes to fund these social programs. It only makes sense to require someone who is receiving assistance to take a drug screen. In addition to the drug screening our welfare, CAC, JMHA, and other agencies need a grant to form fraud task forces whose sole purpose is to combat fraud. The children are innocent in this, it is not their fault they were born into this and should not have to pay the price but at the same time we can't keep going as we have been. Our system is fatally flawed when young kids coming up aren't worried about being able to secure an education and employment because they know there are a multitude of hand-out programs to rely on. We also need to start utilizing recipients.

I'm shocked, SHOCKED, I tell you!!!

Not at the fact that enrollment will fall short, but shocked that Biden would admit the truth. The truth that many of us knew from the start (perhaps, even Biden and Obama).

And where are those 36 million desperate for healthcare? Why haven't they signed up?

bksneeze ---- "How about we examine it…find ways to shore up the loopholes, tighten the requirements and scrutinize the recipients without hurting those who truly need help getting on their feet or their unfortunate blameless children."

bksneeze you do realize that the Conservative Congress did that in Clinton's last two years in office. Clinton signed the Welfare Reform Act and the welfare system was being cleaned up. Then came along obungler and with out going through congress and disregarding the law al together he by excutive order changed it back to the way it was for 30 years. Back to the system the unions and working people hated in the 70's and 80's. Why are they embracing it today? Is it because your messiah wants it that way?

Perhaps we should have rewards for folks who prove that someone is illegally working the system, say 10% of what the bums would have received for a year. There would also be penalties for false accusations. Similar to what many areas do for reporting other types of criminals. Think of the tax money we could save, and better use.

RPG0340, “you people saying that everyone worships what Bush did, or Romney, or McCain.”?? Have I? Please tell me when. You lament the fact that SOMEONE may have lumped YOU in a group, but turn around and do the same. Many times. What a colossal double standard.

I get it that you are fed up with exploiters of the system. I am too! But let’s not gut every social program because it is misused. Or refer to all the recipients as lazy bums. How about we examine it…find ways to shore up the loopholes, tighten the requirements and scrutinize the recipients without hurting those who truly need help getting on their feet or their unfortunate blameless children.

My wife works with a lot of these folks, of all races. When she asks their children, "Who made you breakfast this morning?"

"No one."

"Who got up and got you dressed?"

"No one."

"Was mommy or Daddy at work?"

"No. Mommy/Daddy doesn't work."

Or:

"What do you want to be when you grow up?"

"I don't have to have a job."

They never come to meetings about their children. The schools can't contact them on their I-Phones.

It is not enough to take our tax money so they can do nothing, but not taking care of your children that you claim for additional welfare and food stamps is disgusting.

She has a child whose single dad drives a tow truck to make a living. The father sometimes has to take the boy with him in the middle of the night when he goes out. The mom is not around, living off the taxpayer. A great dad.

I agree, there are some people that need assistance. Those people that should get it are those that funded the system until they fell upon hard times. Most of the people cashing in on the system do have exotic hair, lots of jewelry, I-phones, and the belief and attitude that the country owes them something. I cannot stand that these people whine. They are scum. They have no idea that the husband and wife standing behind them that provides for their very existence may have been wanting children for years but want to ensure that they are financially secure before doing so.

RPG034, to be honest, I have seen a few folks in the checkout line who honestly appeared to be needing their food stamps.

For those you mentioned, how many had exotic hair-dos and wild manicures on the hands they were extending their food stamp cards with?

Welfare bums are LAZY. They chat on their I-phones, while waiting to check out with their buggies spilling over with junk food to feed their 400lb. 5'2" bodies, complaining that their wait is too long as if they have somewhere they have to be. These people are SCUM and I'm tired of paying for them.

The crosses in Stratton is a joke and a publicity stunt. They caved to fast. There are a couple of groups that will defend Christian displays with out cost and they win 90% of the time. John Abadalla didn't want to anger the far left libtards. He knows who the people complaining are. They go to the Democratic Party meetings. It was all a scam so he wouldn't get blamed for taking the crosses down.

RPG0340, agreed. Generalizing ("lumping everyone that is to the right of Mao and Stalin into the same category") IS a bad practice. You probably shouldn't either. I agree Hagrid. We will be seeing a new entity here soon. Core won't be able to contain himself. Just like when the story about the crosses being removed he will show his face. It is too bad though that he is too much of a coward to come forth and claim responsibility for those crosses being taken down. He won't do that though, he lacks the fortitude.

TomSays, I'm tired of you lumping everyone that is to the right of Mao and Stalin into the same category. Just because some people are conservatives does not automatically believe that they believe the "rich" should get massive tax breaks. I believe that a "fair tax" is the best solution but to the idiots on the left that is not good enough. Welfare, SNAP, Chip, all of these handouts need to go away because they are out of hand. Bums give birth to more bums, and they mooch and mooch and vote for those that allow it to continue. "Rich" people pay much more in taxes every year than what many American will make in a lifetime. When is enough, enough?
