That's a very courageous woman. She has to deal with this all the time, not just during high profile cases. Jefferson County is lucky to have her.

Spare me the tears PLEEEEZE! This so called prosecutor could have taken the bull by the horns early on but she (and law enforcement authorities) made it necessary for the Ohio State Prosecutor's Office to step in. I do NOT condone threats against anyone, especially her; however, she IS deserving of substantial criticism as are the other adults who were involved in not intervening early on. Let's hope the Grand Jury comes down hard on coaches, school board officials AND yes, PARENTS who let this crap go on season-after-season. Hanlin did not shine brightly as a sterling legal light in this whole mess.

I curious to which side would have made the threats; or are they coming from some group that may be next?

Why would they threaten her?

Kind of vague to me.

Beagle, apparentely you did not watch this trial or pay attention for the last six moths while the investigationwas going foward. Hanlin and local law enforement started the investigation at the beginning. All of the text messages and cellphone information used at trial, came from search warrants prepared by Hanlin and SPD within days. This id the evidence that convicted them.. Know what your talking about before posting!!

Hanlin is the worst thing to happen to our community. If she knows you she will take care of you. Like charging these two boys as minors when they should have been charged as adults as they originally were. I would like to know who changed it. Any other person would have been charged as an adult. If you read the paper you see kids under 18 being charged as adults all the time, for crimes a lot less criminal.

Hey colkrause....you r talking like a man with a paper butt! This case broke open ONLY, repeat ONLY when an outside reporter pressed the issue and blew open the fact that Hanlin and Sheriff (Andy of Mayberry) Abdalla were sitting on their haunches. Face it, this whole city muncical justice system turned a blind eye to the case. Lets see if they can redeem themselves by prosecuting the ADULTS who were also respsonsible for this atrocity. Wake up and smell the coffee, the sulphur...or whatever noxious air you folks breathe down there that toxifies your brains.

Beagle........Get your facts together. The so called outside people came in AFTER 1. Arrests were made 2. They were being presented to an adult court then ruled by Lipps in October to juvenile.3. Abdella only was involved with recovering the phone ONLY. Hanlin was the one who got the 2 arrested. Folks like you make this impossible to understand. DeWine's prosecutors said it best internet bloggers made it worse. You qualify for that statement. You can go back to bed now little child.

Looks like Steubenville needs some serious moral training. Why don't the schools start a moral leadership program to promote and award young moral leaders who take a stand rather than the current culture of moral cowardice, follow the crowd depravity? Surely, there are good and moral people in Steubenville. Let them come forward.

Hanlin better hire an attorney if she hasn't already because the Grand Jury and evidence presented suggests she had a hand at sweeping this under the rug. It was widely reported that she discouraged Jane Doe from pressing charges, I have no sympathy for this woman and her kid whom is a known member of Rape Crew.

Cindy all juveniles are initially charged as juveniles no matter what the crime. They then have to go through a bind over hearing which they did and Judge Lipps decided to keep it in juvenile court after hearing from both the AG and the defense teams

I think it's ridiculous that anyone was threatened. Adults need to be adults, plain and simple. I keep reading people posting that Jane Hanlin tried to talk the victim out of filing charges. Ask any prosecutor what they would tell a rape victim before going to court. If the conversation happened, I would lean toward Hanlin making sure the victim knew that it was not going to be easy, that is was going to be a fight, that the defense will try to tarnish her reputation. That is what happens in every rape case, why would thins be any different? That's not talking the victim out of it, that is letting her know what lies ahead for her so she can be prepared for it. That is helping the victim, how would she feel being side-lined by the victim blaming?

Hanlin's credibility has been called into question ever since she spoke on behalf of former Big Red player Branko Busick. He also got off easy considering the crime he committed.

Probably the only threat she received was the threat of being investigated for obstruction of justice, but no worry, she's politically connected.
