Mr. Hord,

You are right when you say Americans and this country are the beneficiaries of what Mr. Lincoln did. What you failed to explain though was he ushered in everything wrong and that's why we have such a messed up, centralized government. What most Americans don't know, because of poor public education, is that Lincoln was a tyrannical president much like Obama. He used many executive orders to do his will just like a king. He got rid of the writ of habeus corpus which only Congress should be able to do. He created the state of West Virginia on his own, again against the Constitution. He threw the governor and legislatures of Maryland in jail for no reason other than he did not want Maryland to secede to the Confederacy. Lincoln shut down newspapers if they did not write what he wanted. He ordered the death of thousands upon thousands of innocent southerners for his Empire. Lastly, he ushered in the first income tax for HIS war and wrote often with Karl Marx.

In closing, Abraham Lincoln was a very determined man, determined to get his centralized government, to destroy Sates' rights, and bring in the enormous government that we have today.
