The author noted in the letter that Planned Parenthood is paid for the abortions it performs. Abortion is legal. They do no use tax payer money to pay for the abortions. The law actually forbids that already. Planned Parenthood also performs vital free services for women including cancer screenings. So in effect, what the letter is advocating when it suggests that taxpayer money be taken away from PP is that women should be allowed to suffer with cancer and PP should find some other way to make up the money. Hey, maybe they could make it up by performing even more legal abortions. See what I did there? In case you didn't; what I did was show how poorly argued this letter is.

Your analogy doesn't make sense prima-facie. If the only think PP did was abortions (which is so not close to the reality it isn't even worth entertaining) and if they charged for the service the same amount they do now, they could stay in business doing nothing else. Also, if they stopped doing abortions, they would have less money for the OTHER valuable services they provide and would be able to help fewer women.

Maybe you don't like it that abortions help fund the good things they do. Maybe you'd rather they stopped doing abortions and were given MORE tax payer funds instead, but you don't get to determine their business model. That's not how America works. Don't like it? Too bad.

If a person only had ten dollars and then you were given twenty dollars. You now can afford to go to the movie. You wouldn't have gotten to see the movie if it hadn't been for the extra money you receive. Case closed tax payer money helps PP to support abortions. Why does PP oppose and fight against a congressional audit of it's finical records? Case Closed again!

PP doesn't do free abortions. That means they charge to pay for the service. That means the tax payer money goes toward those services which they do provide for free.

It's not rocket science.
