STEUBENVILLE — In a do or die situation, the Steubenville Post 33 Legion baseball team came out swinging Thursday afternoon in its elimination game against Richmond Post 740. Steubenville scored 11 runs in the first inning, and Post 33 went on to score 18 runs in the first three innings en route to an 18-8 victory in seven innings at Vaccaro Field in the 10th District Carl “Dutch” Nordenger Memorial Tournament. Richmond ends the season with a record of 23-19. “That is probably the best inning of offense we have had this year,” Steubenville head coach Mark Stacy said about his team’s 11-run first inning. “It came at the right time. When you are in the losers bracket, you have to outscore people, and you need pitchers that are willing to give you all that they have.” Brad Hughes picked up the win. Hughes struck out none and walked three in five innings. T.J. DeChristopher pitched the sixth inning, and Rocco Auteri came in and pitched the seventh. Post 33 totaled 13 hits. Anthony Pi
