FOLLANSBEE — Brightwood Center is looking like a million dollars following a series of renovations that cost that very amount. Completed during three years, the $1 million renovation project involved every room of the 128-bed assisted care and rehabilitation center at 840 Lee Road. Each room received new carpet, draperies and furniture, including new electric beds, and the center’s two spacious dining areas were fitted with new hardwood floors, elegant furniture and colorful wall coverings. In addition, a new phone system, with accommodations for the hearing-impaired, was installed throughout the building and the center’s parking area was expanded to accommodate more residents and guests. Brightwood Center is one of more than 200 assisted care and rehabilitation centers operated by Genesis HealthCare in 12 eastern states that were part of a modernization and renovation campaign launched by the Kennett Square, Pa.-based company. “We are making every effort to make our centers more
