Barack and the kids

July 9, 2008 - Paul Giannamore

Sen. Barack Obama could just answer America's need to return to a government of, by and for the opinion pollsters, just like the Clintons.

Proof? Somehow, the Senator and his wife and kids gave a quick and candid interview to "Access Hollywood." Frankly, I found it kind of cute, especially when the one kid said she gets tired of hearing her daddy going "mip, mip, mip" and she made a little mouth movement with her hand, a la Frank Barone of "Everybody Loves Raymond" talking about his wife's big mouth.

But some pundits apparently took Obama to task for exploiting his wife and kids as part of his marketing campaign to become president.

The senator said Wednesday that he wouldn't grant such interviews again, and kind of made it sound like he wasn't fully aware that it was being done, at least in his remarks to Matt Lauer on the "Today" show. Kind of funny, when the Senator was sitting right in there with his wife and kids for the interview.

Seems to me he was testing the waters. If the nation had reacted the way it did to John-John and Caroline Kennedy playing in the Oval Office, it would have been Obama Gold. Instead, a little backfire and now Obama says the media is exploiting his family and he won't let that happen.

Imagine what happens if pundits oppose his tax policy (a budget  breaker) or his Iraq-Iran policy (which could be Carteresque).
