| | Simpson is crownedJune 17, 2012 - Mike MathisonCongratulations to Webb Simpson for winning the US Open at The Olympic Club. He was the only player in the field to play the weekend with both rounds in the 60s, going 68-68. He played the final 13 holes Sunday 4-under par. He made solid, clutch par putts down the stretch, although his pedestrian bunker play needs work. His win means in the 5 Opens played at The Olympic Club, the winner has not come from the final group. Simpson showed some major backbone with that up-and-down on the 72nd hole for the win. The Open should show younger players that it is never about how you play, but what you shoot.
