Big Red fans
September 28, 2010 - Mike Mathison
No one should be surprised about what transpired Saturday at Harding Stadium in the inaugural Rally in Death Valley. If you are going to build a one-day football affair, you're going to have to do it around Big Red and its fans.
The place was packed for Big Red's contest with Morgantown and most of those fans stayed through the first half of the Don Bosco-St. Ignatius contest.
Both games were blowouts, as expected, but there was still some good football played. That included Bridgeport's 24-7 dismantling of Wheeling Central.
Big Red fans travel like no other throughout the Valley. The fans are not all perfect, but they do follow their team.
I have no idea if there will be another one next year, but getting teams like Bosco and Iggy was good for a day at Death Valley.
I know Manatee High School from Florida really want to sink their teeth into Don Bosco.
Pair that game next year with a Big Red-Massillon game on a sunny Saturday and there will be no other place to be.
I'm just saying.
