Sex and the City Quotes

May 27, 2010 - Brandi Bowers

In honor of Sex and the City 2 opening in theaters today, here are some of my favorite Carrie Bradshaw quotes:

Later that day I got to thinking about relationships. There are those that open you up to something new and exotic, those that are old and familiar, those that bring up lots of questions, those that bring you somewhere unexpected, those that bring you far from where you started, and those that bring you back. But the most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you can find someone to love the you you love, well, that's just fabulous.

The most important thing in life is your family. There are days you love them, and others you don't. But, in the end, they're the people you always come home to. Sometimes it's the family you're born into and sometimes it's the one you make for yourself.

I'm looking for love. Real love. Ridiculous, inconvenient, consuming, can't-live-without-each-other love.

Maybe the past is like an anchor holding us back. Maybe, you have to let go of who you were to become who you will be.

I fell. I fell in Dior. So I decided that the more I purchased the less they'd think of me as the American who fell in Dior.

Think about it. If you are single, after graduation there isn't one occasion where people celebrate you... Hallmark doesn't make a "congratulations, you didn't marry the wrong guy" card. And where's the flatware for going on vacation alone?

There is a good way to break-up with someone, And it doesn't include a post-it.

People say 'Everything happens for a reason.' These people are usually women. And these women are usually sorting through a break-up. It seems that men can get out of a relationship without even a 'Goodbye,' But, apparently, women have to either get married or learn something.

I like my money right where I can see it: hanging in my closet.

Some people are settling, some people are settling down, and some people refuse to settle for anything less than butterflies.

People go to casinos for the same reason they go on blind dates: hoping to hit the jackpot. But mostly, you just wind up broke or alone in a bar.

Maybe our mistakes are what make our fate. Without them, what would shape our lives? Perhaps if we never veered off course, we wouldn't fall in love, or have babies, or be who we are. After all, seasons change. So do cities. People come into your life and people go. But it's comforting to know the ones you love are always in your heart. And if you're very lucky, a plane ride away.

I've spent $40,000 on shoes and I have no place to live? I will literally be the old woman who lived in her shoes!

I'm homeless! I'll be a bag lady! A Fendi bag lady, but a bag lady!!

Gay boyfriends are the loophole of monogamy.

I used to think those people who sat alone at Starbucks writing on their laptops were pretentious posers. Now I know: They are people who have recently moved in with someone.

The only thing that I have ever successfully made in the kitchen is a mess. And several little fires.

I got to thinking about relationships and partial lobotomies: two seemingly different ideas that might just be perfect together—like chocolate and peanut butter.

I realized I was in the throws of an existential crisis. One that not even the sight of this season's Dolce & Gabbana strappy sandals could lift me out of.

He was like the flesh and blood equivalent of a DKNY dress: you know it's not your style but it's right there, so you try it on anyway.

Maybe some women aren't meant to be tamed. Maybe they need to run free until they find someone just as wild to run with.
