Going to church on Sunday

As I grew up my dad thought it was important for me to go to church every Sunday.

The problem was, I was the only person in my family to do so.

My younger sister didn't go, as didn't my mom or dad.

Just me.

Pretty soon I figured out that going to church on Sunday morning didn't actually mean going inside the building.

To me, it meant riding my bike around for an hour or finding a school playground to play on for that time. I then went to the church as it let out, bought a Sunday paper and brought it home. My dad asked me how church was and I gave that simple, manly answer "Fine."

I still give that answer a lot, by the way.

"How was work? ... How are you? ... How ... How ... How ...?"

"Fine ... Fine ... Fine ... Fine ... Fine ... Fine."

Do parents really  think they should not make their kids go to church on Sunday's because they would grow up to rebel and resent church.

I rebelled and resented church when I was growing up because my dad made me go, but didn't think it was important enough for him. "Do as I say, not as I do" was big with him.

If I make my daughter and son go to church every Sunday morning, which we do as a family, will they also rebel against eating, going to school, sleeping, following rules, cleaning their rooms and all those other things we parents MAKE our kids do?

Parents, lame excuse!
