Duckieduck Wins $250 in Pothole Contest
March 25, 2010 - Alex Marshall
The envelope, please.
And the winner is…..
Bekey McCourt of Brilliant, Ohio.
Bekey, better known as duckieduck on the blog circuit, is the runaway winner (no surprise as she was the only entry) in my Adopt a Pothole contest last week. ($250 bucks just doesn’t buy what it use to, I guess)
Bekey works at Coil Slitting International in Weirton commuting daily on Ohio state route 7 between home and work. Her winning essay details darn near every crack and crevice on 7 north and south, which by the way are getting wider and wider by the minute.
Duckieduck plans on spending her $250 pothole winnings on four new tires for her Ford Ranger pickup at the downtown Steubenville Expert Tire Store.
The big loser in all of this pothole nonsense is me. I’m stuck with a $500 repair bill (bent rim) on my Vdub. Worse yet, if I’m not careful, I could end up in the same pothole, on the same highway with the same $500 repair bill as the POTHOLES HAVE YET TO BE FIXED!
While my days of pothole blogging are over, I have provided a link to the city’s Facebook page where you may continue to post your pothole peeves.
The Adopt a pothole contest was sponsored by Frank & Jerry’s Furniture Store and Heraldstaronline.com
