| | Top TV Shows of 2009December 30, 2009 - Brandi BowersWell, we are wrapping up 2009 this week and it's time for all the Entertainment Lists. Time & Entertainment Weekly have been busy at work with their "Top 10s." Below is one of the Top 10 TV Shows of 2009 Lists. Is it what you thought it would be? 10. The Office/Parks & Recreation Really? Those two tied. The Office is a great show, but Parks & Recreation. I was very excited to see Amy Poehler get her own show on NBC, but this & Community are definitely the boring shows on their Thursday night line up. 9. Sons of Anarchy I've never watched this one, so I really can't comment. It seems like a lot of people are watching this one, though, so it makes sense. 8. Glee I'm kind of surprised this isn't higher on the list. Glee has a massive following! Hello? Gleeks! 7. Friday Night Lights This has been a good show from the start. I know it has Friday in the title, but I think it would do even better if it wasn't on on a night when a lot of people go out and don't watch tv. 6. LOST Ok, is anyone actually still watching this one? I liked it the first two seasons, but I think we are ready for it to come to an end by this point. 5. Battlestar Galactica Really? Number 5? It's on SyFy. I guess it got some credit being that it was it's final season. I'll admit, I like some of the science fiction. I like Star Trek, Lord of the Rings & other fantasy movies & tv shows, but this was nowhere on my radar. 4. Big Love Another HBO hit. Props to HBO for shows like the Sopranos, Sex and the City, The Wire, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Oz, Flight of the Concords, True Blood. I could go on and on. I'm not a fan of the premise, but good writing plus good actors equals good ratings. 3. Breaking Bad It's first season and already going strong. AMC seems to have gotten on the original tv series bandwagon and taken off. 2. Modern Family If you've read any of my blogs or facebook comments, you know I'm a huge fan of this comedy. Poking fun at the way life situations REALLY are these days. Good job! Plus, a comeback from Al Bundy doesn't hurt either. 1. Mad Men One of the biggest shows of the year and I haven't been watching it. I know. Shame on me. The previews always look amazing, but I feel overcommitted to my television shows as it is. This show combines a great time period with a lot of drama. This is one I'll make sure to watch next year. Ok, time for my rant... I know it's only a top 10, so it can't include other big shows from this year like Cougar Town & Dexter, but seriously, no True Blood!!! I know I'm partial to the vampire shows and the HBO shows, but come on, True Blood had record ratings this season! So what did you think? Are you happy with this list?
