Chiweenie the vacuum eater

December 22, 2008 - Paul Giannamore

When remodeling, send your Daschund/Chihuahua mix to its crate.

For the vacuum cleaner's safety.

P.J. apparently had enough during the past week of workmen trudging around inside our home, replacing carpeting and flooring, running drills and compressors and banging hammers. She'd tried to be a good dog, barking and snarling at these intruders, but generally staying in our bedroom, far from the work zone.

Except she discovered at the end of the week that she could retaliate. And thus our Dirt Devil's cord was chewed through in about 15 places. She never even barks at the vacuum when it's running, choosing to go to a neutral corner instead.

Not the dog's fault. We changed her life for too many days in a row, upsetting her Zen-like peace at doing the same things at the same time every day.

So now, the Dirt Devil has a really short cord.

We could learn a lot from our dogs about peace and tranquility and what really matters. Apparently it's not a new carpet.

Just say your mantra and stop eating vacuum cleaners, dear P.J.
